Botanic Name - Scientific name of a plant, also called the Latin name.
Cultivars - Plant varieties produced by breeding
Common Names - Any names that other people may know this plant by. For example a Strelitzia Reginae is known by the names "Bird of Paradise" and "Crane Flower". Enter in the information separating the names with a comma, e.g. Bird of Paradise, Crane Flower.
Drought Tolerant - Tick this box if it can withstand drought conditions.
Edible - Tick this if the fruit is edible to humans.
Family Name - A group of species sharing certain characteristics.
Fertilising Schedule - Enter in the months that the plant requires fertilising.
Fertilising Schedule Amount - The amount of fertiliser to apply, e.g. lightly or 250mls.
Fertilising Schedule Type - The type of fertiliser, e.g. nitrogen rich.
Fertilising Schedule Month - The month to apply the fertiliser, e.g. March.
Flower Colour - All the colours that a plant will flower.
Flower Perfume - The fragrance of the flower.
Flower Size - The minimum size of the flower to the maximum size of the flower.
Flower Shape - The botanical term to describe the shape of the flower.
Flower Season - Tick the boxes when the plant produces flowers.
Frost Tolerant - Tick this box if the plant can withstand a frost.
Fruit Size - Minimum size of the fruit to the maximum size.
Fruit Edible - Tick this if the fruit is edible to humans
Fruit Colour - the colours fruit are available in
Fruit Type - The technical composition of the fruit.
Fruit Season - The months that the plant would expect to have ripe fruit on it in your region.
Flower Shape -The scientific shape of the flower. If you don't know leave it blank.
Foliage - The type of foliage growth the plant exhibits.
General Description - This should contain any information that may help you identify the plant or information that is not in any other field in the program.
Genus - A taxonomic group comprising closely related species.
Growth Type - How does the plant grow on a particular landscape?
Growth Rate - The growth rate relative to other plant species.
Leaf - Margin, arrangement and composition
Links - Any references you may want to refer back to in the future. These can be books, articles or web links.
Location - The name you give to the area of the garden where your plant is. One line in the data grid for each plant in different locations and ages.
Location Age of Plant - The age of the plant since planting it in the ground. This is used to calculate the reminders so it is important to be as accurate as possible. It is an integer such as 1 for 1 month.
Location As At - The date that the plant was that age. For example 12/6/2007, the plant was 1 month old.
Location Condition - The current condition of the plant, e.g. Healthy.
Location Interval - The time interval used for the age of the plant. Such as month for 1 month.
Location Sun - The amount of sun that the plant receives at that location. This is for your reference only.
Location Wind - The amount of wind that a plant receives. This is for your reference only.
Mulching Tips - Any tips on the amount or type of mulch that a plant thrives on.
Notes - A diary of notes made about a plant.
Origin - The known country of Origin.
Pests - Moulds, diseases or insects that can be detrimental to the growth of the plant.
PH Range - The acidity or alkalinity content of soil that is ideal for a plant.
Planting Tips - Tips you have learned or heard of to help with establishing the plant.
Propagating Tips - Tips you have learned or heard of to help with creating new plants for this plant.
Pruning Schedule - The months this plant should be pruned.
Pruning Schedule Type - The type of pruning to do, e.g. pinching.
Pruning Schedule Amount - The amount to prune, e.g. lightly prune.
Pruning Schedule Month - The ideal month to prune, e.g. December.
Quick Reference Name - Any name that you identify your plant by. For example; "Cyclamen" you may know as "Seventh Heaven" or "Mary" or 'pretty pink shady flowers'. This is a name for you only to identify the plant by.
Remind Me to..... - Tick the boxes to add in a plant to the "Reminders Schedule". Make sure the location tab is filled in correctly to calculate the right age of the plant for the reminders.
Remind Start Date - The data that the reminder will star, e.g. Enter today's date to "remind me in 3 months to clean the gutters".
Remind Task - The task description of what My Garden Pal will remind you to do.
Remind Plant Location - The location in the garden to apply this reminder to.
Reminder Remind Me - The integer of the reminder, e.g. 3 for 3 months.
Reminder Time(s) a - The time frame for the reminder, e.g. months for 3 months.
Remind me - Tick this to keep reminding of the general task.
Soil Properties - Characteristics of the ideal type of soil to grow the plant in, e.g. well drained sandy to clay loam recommended.
Sow Season - The months that seeds can be planted in your region.
Sun - The ideal amount of sun a plant requires in your region.
Warnings - Anything that organisations warn about the plant, e.g. "Aurium Lilies" are a weed in Queensland near water courses. "Warning Description" is "Weed near water courses, Zone 10, Country Australia".
Watering Schedule - The amount of water the plant should require to establish the plant and throughout it's lifetime.
Watering Schedule Age - The age as an integer (Example: 1) of the plant when it is watered.
Watering Schedule Water - The number of times in this interval to be reminded to water this plan,. e.g. 2 for twice a week.
Watering Schedule Of Plant - The age interval (Example: month) of the plant when it is watered.
Watering Schedule Time(s) - The interval between reminders, e.g. "weeks" for twice a week to water the plant.
Watering Schedule Amount - The amount that a plant should be watered, e.g. lightly water.
