How to Back up your data?

  1. Open My Garden Pal
  2. Click "Browse My Plants"
  3. From the menu bar select 'File' then 'Backup Database'
  4. Browse to the location on your hard drive where you would like to locate your back up files
  5. Give your file a name
  6. Click 'Save'
  7. Click 'OK' when you are told your database has been backed up
  8. To be extra safe you should copy this file onto another media for a second backup

How to Restore from your Back up?

  1. Open My Garden Pal
  2. Click "Browse My Plants"
  3. From the menu bar select 'File' then 'Restore Database'
  4. Enter a new Database name - this will make a new database with all your backup data in it. You will still have available your current database if you need it.
  5. Click 'Browse' and locate you backup file
  6. Click 'Restore'
  7. After it has successfully created your new database Click 'Cancel'
  8. Now you must make the backup the current database to look at.
  9. From the menu bar select 'File' then 'Open Database'
  10. Select the name from the list that you just created in step 4
  11. You will receive a message saying your database has been open and you will return to the Home screen.
  12. If you browse now you will see your backup data restored.
